The El Mago Reserva Liga Texas LE “El Shoco” is one of the rarest releases in the El Mago portfolio, crafted exclusively for the Texas market as part of the Reserva Liga Texas series. Produced at MGE Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua, this limited-edition cigar is wrapped in a rich Mexican San Andrés Maduro leaf that immediately sets the tone for a darker, more concentrated smoking experience.

Medium-to-full in body, El Shoco delivers deep notes of dark cocoa, charred oak, black pepper, and earthy sweetness. The San Andrés wrapper provides richness and depth while maintaining balance throughout the smoke. Limited in availability and difficult to find outside of Texas, El Shoco is a boutique release that showcases El Mago’s ability to create bold, memorable cigars while staying true to the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and storytelling.

Very Enjoyable

Overall a very enjoyable smoke worth a few singles.

First third has main tones of smoked wood, chocolate, cocoa, smooth cream. Some citrus notes on the tongue.
Second third, more of the same flavors with an additional tobacco sweetness. Very nice chocolatey tones along with smoked/charred wood. Not super peppery and I dig it.
Final third, woodiness ramps with cocoa flavor remaining. Chocolate takes a bit of a back seat with baking spice and citrus ramping up.

Big transitions

Stored and smoked straight out of the humidor at 65%.
First third was chocolate ice cream!! Creamy, sweet, mild milk chocolate ice cream. I thought for sure my brain was short circuiting.
Finally, the traditional Nica notes showed up at the start of the second third. Some earth and mild oak, combined with black pepper, and hints of char; almost reminiscent of Texas smoked brisket vibes but definitely gave me post oak in the smoker vibe.
Final third delivers a great blend of savory pepper, creamy chocolate, oak, and overall quintessential Nica maduro profile as the base. Retro was creamy texture but peppery profile with chocolate and earth undertones.

Construction was average with a typical wavy box press burn line and flaky ash. Body was medium-full to full, but not overbearing on the strength. Definitely dense and strong enough to beat up your palate though, so maybe an end of the night cigar.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. What a wild ride!
