Delightful
Elegant is a good starting point for this smoke. It is hard for me to describe flavor notes on this one because the best way to describe it is balanced and well melded. Nothing sticks out with sharp edges. Nothing screams for attention. Nothing lacking. None of this should be mistaken for ‘boring’ or ‘plain’. The flavors are centered around savory bready characteristics and carry a body I can only describe as ‘chewy’ but not thick or heavy. When I think I’ve nailed down a singular flavor note, it transitions to something else and the chase begins to identify the new note, only to realize it’s transitioning again or melding into something else. Razor thin burn line, perfect draw, tight ash. Smooth flavorful retro with a little bit of Ritz crackers undertones and a sprinkle of aged tobacco funk. This stick is more of an experience to sit and savor than analyze. Absolutely would pair this with a right bank Bordeaux, Duckhorn napa cab, or a balanced/complex whiskey like Michter’s 10 year rye or Murray Hill Club. If those are too high brow for you, my second stick paired amazingly with a cold Coors Banquet stubby.
